Montgomery and Dadeville artist Langley Tolbert ,who is an abstract painter, will introduce a series of new works, including paintings evoking the human figure and collages formed from fused clay and metal fired in her kiln.
Her fused clay and metal pieces are also used in her new line of jewelry, which she calls the New Organics Collection. Each piece is one of a kind and handmade. Many of her clay beads derive their smokey colors from saggaring, a process in which the clay is smoked with grass and other organic materials rather than fired with glazes.
A member of the Montgomery Art Guild, Tolbert studied fine art at the University of Alabama and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Her paintings are part of private and corporate collections and have appeared in numerous juried shows.
Her work can be seen in the Lake Martin area at Red Hill Gallery in Red Hill and in Montgomery at Stonehenge Gallery, Gallery East at EastChase and the Renaissance Hotel.
